Staple felt paper in between the 1 by 6 trim. Fasten the 1 by 6 trim around the roof. Use inch tacks or nails to secure the paper. To keep the dog house extra dry you can cover the entire roof with asphalt impregnated roofing paper or tar paper.

Start the next row of shingles directly on top of the first row right side up this time. After being medically released from the army they are building an off grid homestead from the ground up. If you ve chosen to put down tar paper or other material underneath shingles put it down. The trim should stick up about 1 1 2 inches above the roof. For better waterproofing consider using rubber roofing material and apply it to the plywood with construction adhesive.

Cover the surface with tar paper and secure it into place with staples. Run the first row of shingles upside down along the bottom edge of the roof using short roofing nails to hold it in place. Make sure you center the plywood piece to the rafters before inserting the screws into place. Leave the trim off of the back for drainage.
